It is that time of year again! Shelters all over the country become flooded with newborn kittens and puppies. Why this time of year? As the warmer months arrive, unaltered (not spayed) female cats/dogs go into heat. If impregnated by a male cat/dog, a female cat/dog gives birth to a litter of kittens/puppies only 60 days later. This is the perfect time to volunteer at a shelter or foster baby kittens or puppies until they’re big enough to be spayed or neutered and then adopted. We are also looking for foster parents for bottle baby kittens/puppies. And, of course, this is also a good time to adopt a pet of your own. To help LCPA's fosters with the influx of kittens and puppies, we host a donation drive during the month of April. We ask our supporters and citizens to donate to us and help us care for newborns that come into our care. The goal is to stock up on inventory to provide to our fosters with items such a milk replacement formula, puppy and kitten food, bottles, and more. To launch our baby shower, we will be having a baby shower right at the shelter including games, prizes, food and more!
